Wahmnaps Christmas Roundup

I often spend time browsing the various wahm stores, in search of hidden treasure or a great bargain. Today I found myself over at Wahmnaps and discovered a few cute buys (some nappies and some other things) that I thought I would share with you all. Any of these would make great Christmas presents for the little ones in your life (or their MCN loving mamas). Here are my finds:

For the Christmas babies Baabinti have created some gorgeous sets shirt and soaker sets that will get everyone into the Christmas spirit. For the little ladies there is a sweet soaker skirt and matching appliqued shirt and for the baby boys a bright and jolly pair of shorties, also with an appliqued shirt. The t-shirt will be made custom when ordered so you can choose the right size for your baby. You can also choose from a range of cute Christmas puppies (also pictured below) for your applique. Each set is priced at $45.

Next are these sweet dresses and tunics for little girls from Pink Giraffe. I am a sucker for pink gingham and this gorgeous handmade vintage inspired Pink Gingham Dress, sized 6-12 months ($30) is hard to pass up. It features a full gathered skirt sitting above the knee with a cute pink ribbon sash and bow.

Looking for a dress for your little one to wear on Christmas day? The Red & White Polka Dot Dress, sized 12-18 months ($30) would be just perfect. It features a full gathered skirt sitting above the knee with white tulle underskirt and a fully lined bodice.

For some bright, summer fun you can't beat the Orange Floral Tunic Dress ($25), available in sizes 6-9 months and 9-12 months. It is made with an orange floral print with contrasting pockets and is fully lined with pink cotton. As your little girl grows this dress can later be worn as a tunic top and will look lovely with a pair of pants. I think this dress would make a great change from the pinks I always seem to gravitate towards for my own girls.

Is your little girl growing up? Starting to think about toilet training? Well I have come across the most divine training pants on the planet! Daddle Doo Nappies on Wahmnaps have created a pull up style training pant that are made up from a variety of gorgeous cotton print outers, hidden PUL lining (for waterproofing) and microfleece (stay dry) inners. They do not have any 'closure', but are a pocket pant, so you stuff them from the back like a pocket nappy and remove the insert when used for easy washing and faster drying times. These trainers are priced at $28.50 each and are sold with a bamboo trifold. The inserts are unbleached organic bamboo cotton fleece. There are a few prints available but below are some of my favourites.

If your little one is still in nappies then you might be interested in these cute covers I found. I am tempted to buy them myself but they aren't quite the right size. Hopefully someone can benefit from my endless nappy hunting.

This first cover from Zigzag Baby is a divine choice and a great price. Zigzag Baby Minky Fleece wraps feature a minky outer, micro fleece inner, are made with the softest FOE (fold over elastic) available and fasten with two rows of coordinating resin snaps for maximum adjustability. All this for the bargain price of $15.75 (normally $17.50) and just when you thought this couldn't get any better, the price above also includes regular post within Australia! The one pictured below is for babies sized 4 - 9kg.

I truly believe fitted nappies are the way to go with newborns and if you are not convinced then this next cover might be what finally sways you. This sweet Way With The Fairies Newborn Cover ($15 including post within Australia) from Maz-a-licious is made from embossed fairy patterned fleece, over locked in variagated pink thread and lined in white Alaskin fleece.

Maz-a-licious also have an amazing wipes set available for purchase. The African Adventure 4 pack of wipes ($7 including post within Australia) features some of the sweetest jungle baby pictures I've ever seen. Measuring 15cm x 15cm, these wipes are constructed from a cotton rich fleece (same feel and texture as Sherpa) backed in an aqua blue and the front designs are quilters cotton. I first stumbled across these a few weeks back and recommended them to a friend who has a jungle theme going on for her son's room. At the time another friend commented that they looked too good to use and that she would frame them and use them as cheap wall art. What a fantastic idea! If anyone does this please take pics and let me know.

The last find on my list really is the icing on the cake. The cupcake soap that is. This little sweet something would be a hit with the kids. The Berry Delight Cupcake Soap ($2 each) from Bubbly Bliss looks well and truly good enough to eat (so be sure to warn the kids that it's NOT edible before you let them wash with it). This soap cupcake is fragranced with berry delight, topped with purple icing and real sprinkles (ok so the sprinkles ARE edible, but I wouldn't). Different colour combinations, fragrances and quantities are available, just contact Bubbly Bliss.

Hope you enjoyed the little tour through some of the fine products over at Wahmnaps and that it helps take care of some of the many Christmas presents you need to buy (sorry to remind you but there are only 28 days till Christmas, eeek).

It's Only Natural

Tonight at 8pm AEST marks the last Gossamer Dreams stocking for the year. The lovely ladies behind Gossamer Dreams are taking a well deserved break during December, but will be back with some new and exciting themes in the New Year (I can't believe we are talking about the New Year already). The theme for tonight's stocking is 'Pure & Natural' with all the gorgeous items up for grabs made out of natural ingredients and fibres.

Many of the items up for grabs tonight are newborn items because in the words of Lesley from Cherub's Kiss, 'there is nothing more pure and natural than a wee bairn'. With this in mind Lesley has created a number of newborn sets featuring different combinations of fitted nappies, wipe and glorious hand embroidered prefolds and singlets. My favourites would have to be the Red Roses Set ($52) which includes a size 1 auriel fitted nappy, embroidered singlet and embroidered prefold and the Salmon Pink Set ($26), featuring 2 bamboo velour/sherpa wipes and a bamboo stretch terry prefold adorned with the sweetest, tiny pink roses I've ever seen. Having a girl myself I have obviously chosen the girly sets as my favourites, however the Munch Crunch Set or the Blue Bunnies Set would be just perfect for the littlest man in your life.

Pookey Pockets have created a range of gorgeous fitted nappies for tonights stocking as well. Available in a range of colours and sizes you are sure to find something for most babies. Whether you are fast enough to get them before someone else does remains to be seen. Each Pookey Pockets fitted nappy sets includes 2 nappies with varying, yet equally cute, appliques on the tush. Small sets are priced at $55 and medium sets at $64. Matching tshirts can also be ordered at an additional cost of $25.

Something I have lusted after for awhile and may well try my luck at buying tonight is one of Donna of Bits For Bots adorable knot dolls. In the stocking tonight Donna has included a Natural Knot Doll and Wipes Set ($23) made from a luxuriously soft bamboo/organic cotton velour.

LinkThe stand out item of tonights stocking for me though would have to be Steiner Doll Custom Slot on offer from Donna of Bits For Bots. This Custom Slot is for one 33cm Steiner Doll. Dark or fair skin, male or female. Dressed in a simple smock or top and pants. You choose the hair colour and style and your doll will be ready within two weeks of ordering. This is truly a special, one of a kind gift that could easily become a family heirloom and is well worth the $75 price tag, especially considering the fact that this price includes registered post. Donna recently stocked a few of these Steiner Dolls in her Ozebaby store and they sold out very quickly so the race to checkout will definitely be on for this custom slot.

As always all item prices include post and products will only be listed for 24 hours so get in quick.

If you would like to find out what the ladies get up to in the New Year be sure to check the Gossamer Dreams blog for updates.

November Competition

I love taking photos of my daughter in all her gorgeous nappies but life often gets in the way, preventing me from doing this on a regular basis so I have decided to open up the 'Nappy Pic Of The Week' section of the blog to everyone. To celebrate this I am running a competition to win a 2009 ANN Cloth Nappy Calender. Full of great photos of sweet babies in their MCN's, this prize will see you through all of next year in cute baby style. To enter all you need to do is submit a photo of your child wearing a cloth nappy along with your name and address to clothdreaming@hotmail.com by Sunday November 30th, 2008. The winner will be drawn randomly and announced on Monday 1st December, 2008.

If you are not the lucky winner you can always head over to the ANN store on Ozebaby and pick up your own cloth nappy calender but be quick! There is only a limited number available.

Please note that by submitting a photo in this competition you agree to it being used on the blog in the 'Nappy Pic Of The Week' section, however it will not necessarily be shown.

Get those entries in and best of luck!

November Sponsor Deals

Cloth Dreaming has some generous sponsors, all who are talented and dedicated WAHM's (work at home mothers). Have you checked them out yet? If not, please take the time to click on some of their banners (you can see them to the right of the page) and browse around their stores. I am just so in awe of these amazing women. I know how hard it is to carve out time to write blog posts every now and then when I have a family to take care of, but to run an entire business? One that never closes? That is truly incredible. Please do support these stores if you can, as all are also 100% dedicated to cloth nappy advocacy, hence their generous sponsorship of this blog.

Here is a sneak peek at some of the great things happening over in the Cloth Dreaming sponsor stores this November. If anything sparks your interest just click on through to see more of what the stores have to offer.

The Nappy Bucket will be offering a variety of specials during the lead up to Christmas so you can get your shopping taken care of early. A great Christmas gift for any new or expecting mum would have to be the Ergo Baby Carrier, which is currently on special for $149. Some Ergo accessories are also discounted so be sure to visit The Nappy Bucket store to check out those great deals.

There are some great deals on some popular cloth nappy brands at the moment too. Sam, from The Nappy Bucket is also currently taking preorders on the four bright, new release colours of the V3 Bumgenius nappy. The Bumgenius is a OSFA pocket nappy, which fits from 3.6kg - 15kg. The latest design features stretchy tabs for a snug fit, wider pocket opening for easier insert stuffing and removal, new insert stopper to keep clothes dry, an extra small setting for tiny bubs, two inserts and grippier hook and loop. All this for just $28! Be one of the first to get your hands on one of the exciting new colours by clicking here.

All Swaddlebees brands of nappies are now on special over at The Nappy Bucket as well!! Swaddlebees All In One nappy with side snaps provides the convenience of an all in one as well as the boosting ability of a pocket nappy. The Nappy Bucket has new prints in these great organic nappies (cow print and pink lemonade) as well as some of your old favourite prints (blue martini, pink martini and citrus bubble) on special for $29.95. Swaddlebees Econappi, the fantastic organic one size nappy, also comes in the new prints, with all these nappies on special for $35.00. Have a look at some of the other great Swaddlebees products they sell, you won’t be disappointed with the price or the quality.

I adore Twinkle Lily and everything the store represents. Did you know that all of the supplies used are bought through other Work At Home Mums? Twinkle Lily recently received a shipment of 'Bambies'. No they are not baby deer, but gorgeous newborn snappiable fitted nappies made from soft bamboo terry and bamboo velour. Pure luxury for a new baby tushie and a great choice for baby's first cloth nappy. Fitting up to 6kg, these nappies are overlocked using colourful Maxilock swirls and Twinkle Lily has every colour available, including pastel sprink, tie dye punch, blue water ice, raspberry vanilla and lemon chiffon (pictured). Not all stock is listed in the store due to a problem with the store cart so if you are after a particular colour or would like more than one be sure to contact Kat from Twinkle Lily directly and she will be only too happy to help you out. 'Bambies' are priced at $18.50 each.

I am also very excited about a new product 'Winkles', soon to be released by Twinkle Lily. These are 100% Organic Merino Wool Covers designed by Kat herself. I have only seen the pictures so far, but they look like beautiful, trim covers whilst still being made from natural wool fibres. I wonder if they will be released in a size small enough to go with the 'Bambies' fitted nappies? What a delicious and enviable newborn stash those two together would make. Be sure to visit the Twinkle Lily store regularly for updates on the release date of 'Winkles', or check here as I will be sure to let you know the second I hear anything. In the meantime here is a little preview.

Twinkle Lily also have 12% off Frugi and Sckoon organic clothing until Saturday 22nd November, 2008. Organic clothing at these prices is hard to come by so grab a bargain before they disappear. New stock to fit babies through to 6 year olds is also coming soon.

Flannel Fings are celebrating National Recycling Week this week and have an amazing offer to go with it. 20% off EVERYTHING in store. With the recent listing of some of their popular reversible denim bibs this is the perfect time to try one of these gorgeous products. With their generous size and funky towel/denim design I think they are fantastic. Seeing as I have taken to pegging a full cloth nappy square (not one I have ever used on the other end I promise) around Zoe's neck to catch the spills and wipe her face I think a bib with a thick towelling side (not the flimsy stuff you get in a bib bought at the supermarket) is beyond brilliant! I simply cannot stop staring at this beautiful Purple Floral bib and wipe set,

or this pale pink floral bib,

or this pretty salmon pink one.

I'm in trouble. Thank goodness for 20% off! This great offer ends midnight Sunday 16th November, 2008 and these bibs are very popular so get in quick.

Tummy Time Maternity & Kids have the ChangeMate in a range of great new designs. The ChangeMate is a practical and stylish wallet, which discreetly holds all the essentials for nappy changing and folds out into a change mat. Priced at $34.95, these are already a bargain but did you know that this price INCLUDES postage? Suddenly this deal is unbeatable. My favourite design would have to be Fuchsia Fantasy (see below), however there are designs available for all tastes. Tummy Time have also extended their free gift with purchase offer until 14th November, 2008. Be sure to check out the store for all the details. Oh, and while you're there, don't forget to check out the sale section for some great bargains on maternity wear, kids clothing and more.

Razzily Rhino have introduced some funky nappies to their store. I am normally a pink girl but the use of this elegant Amy Butler fabric in the pale blue nappy pictured below really caught my eye. It also features a suedecloth inner, which is my favourite material for nappy inners at the moment. I find that stains rinse off this fabric really well. These AIO pocket nappies are $28 each and do not require a seperate cover. To see other designs in the Razzily Rhino nappy range click here.

Bearberi is the place to go not only for a range of nappy, sewing, knitting and babywearing supplies, but also for those of us who love knits but fall short when it comes to having the ability to make them ourselves. I think the custom handknits option Bearberi offers is great. Have you seen a pattern and wish you could have one made up for you or your child? Bearberi will get the wool you need and knit it up for you. Have you got a special type of wool in mind? That's ok too. There are even custom slots that allow you to send along your own wool and have it transformed into the creation of your dreams. Custom handknit prices vary depending on materials and work involved so please do contact Caron at Bearberi to discuss your project.

Hope you all enjoyed the 'windows' shopping experience!

And The Winner Is....

Congratulations Leanne! Leanne is the winner of the Reusable Nappy Week 'Win A Nappy For A Friend' competition that ran during October. Leanne's entry was a cute little poem in which she described the perfect nappy for her friend Claire's baby boy Sam. Everything about her entry screamed winner to me. Here is her winning entry:

For my friend's son, Sam, I wish
To win a Medium Itti Bitti D'Lish
His mummy can be kind of lazy
Which is why, for the D'Lish, she'd go crazy!
He's four months old now, looks great in lime,
Please consider me, for her cloth conversion, it's TIME!

Thank you so much to all the other people who took the time to submit an entry in this great competition. It was a pleasure to read everyone's ideas on what they think is the best nappy to introduce to someone who is new to MCN. Throughout all the entires the itti bitti d'lish proved to be the most popular choice, followed by Green Kids with their great OSFM (one size fits most) AIO pocket nappy with easy to use velcro tabs.

A new competition will be starting next week so please check back soon for more details.

A Useful Tip :: Be Careful When Spraying

If you have a Little Squirt (and personally I don't know how anyone using cloth nappies can live without one, although they do) you will be spraying the nappies directly into the toilet bowl. I think this is by far the most clean, efficient and fuss free way to remove all the waste from the nappy, however here is an important tip.

Before spraying please ensure you have a firm grip on ALL parts of the nappy.

Today I found myself 'booster fishing' in the toilet bowl as I carelessly let the night booster of a Baby BeeHind slip from my hand into the toilet bowl just as I flushed. I stood there in shock as I prayed out loud "Please don't let it flush all the way down", as I imagined the embarrassed call I would have to make to an emergency plumber after I managed to completely clog our pipes with a wedge of bamboo fabric. Thankfully once the flush had completed the booster remained at the bottom of the bowl. Sickened, yet relieved, I quickly reached in to get it, as if convinced that it may still disappear if I didn't get it out immediately.

In hindsight some gloves may have been a better option and I think a box of disposable ones to keep in the bathroom incase of such 'emergencies' may be on my next shopping list. Thank goodness for Dettol soap.

Learn from my adventures, experiences and mistakes people. Make sure you have  good grip on ALL parts of the nappy before spraying.
